Gov. Dan McKee is seen addressing the Rhode Island Housing Board of Commissioners, Thursday, May 18, 2023. (WLNE) PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Gov. Dan McKee and the Rhode Island Housing Board of Commissioners voted to approve $101 million in funding for affordable housing units Thursday. The funding will go towards constructing 1,481 affordable units in 13 towns. It will also be used to preserve existing units. The developments are expected to support over 3,000 jobs. 'For Rhode Island to be an attractive place to live, work, and raise a family, we must address the availability and quality of housing – that means everything from providing supports to those experiencing homelessness, to increasing affordable housing, to ensuring we build more workforce housing for our middle-class families,' McKee said.
