Police Chief Oates enters R.I. Criminal Justice Hall of FameWOONSOCKET – As Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas F. Oates, III, heads into his 50th year in law enforcement come August, he will do so with Hall of Fame honors.Oates, a former member of the Providence Police Department and who added to his career in law enforcement with his current six-year stay as head of the Woonsocket department, was inducted into the R.I. Office of the Attorney General's R.I. Criminal Justice Hall of Fame Thursday evening in Providence along seven other noted members of law enforcement, the judiciary, legal profession and community leadership.
